Improving mental wellbeing and quality of life

Refine Me’s primary aim is to improve people’s quality of life. I am passionate about assisting people’s mental wellbeing; to feel worthy, capable, confident in themselves and their appearance, and to have a general positive outlook and great self-esteem.

The World Health Organisation describe mental health “as a state of well being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.”

Good emotional health and mental well-being isn’t about acute mental health illnesses, it doesn’t involve acute anxiety or depression, it is about having general positive characteristics.

How can Refine Me assist with wellbeing?

I target this in two ways; the first way is through aesthetic medicine:

  • I provide aesthetic treatments in which clients can receive a simple boost of confidence, self-esteem and self-love.
  • I achieve this by helping them feel fresher faced which in turn helps to improve their mental state and well being.

The second way is through my business opportunity.

A lack of time and finances can cause our mental well being to suffer. Money is often seen as being unimportant but it actually relieves stress and worry primarily by allowing us to pay our bills and take care of our families. An increased amount of money and free time can improve our mental well being by allowing us to have more choices, from what we do with our spare time to how much we can give back to our families, friends, local community, charities both locally and globally. Giving back is an extraordinary way of boosting our sense of purpose.

Our mental well-being can be effected by various life changes and circumstances. It can be a snow ball effect in which nothing significant has happened but lots of little things combined are enough to tip you over the edge. Being mentally strong enables us to problem solve and deal with situations better, we are able to achieve more, feel in control and prevent our past situations from dictating our futures.

What else can we do to improve mental wellbeing?

There are various ways in which we can improve our mental wellbeing. I believe it has be to a consistent process to achieve our best results. We cannot go to the gym once, every few weeks or months and expect amazing results. Our brains are no different; it is a continual, on-going process that achieves results.

There are numerous ways that we can strengthen our brain, a few examples include:

Exercise – it increases our happy hormone serotonin.

Relaxation exercises – meditation and mindfulness can be very powerful.

Company – the company we keep influences our headspace, if we are surrounded by negative unhappy people, guess what? That’s going to rub off on us. Choose to spend time with positive people that bring out the best in us.

Give back – not everyone has the finances to give back or donate to charities or local communities, therefore give your time to helping others, achieve a sense of purpose.

Learn how to deal with stress.

Give yourself variety – change your daily routine or add more fun into it.

Set goals, they could be as small as making your bed everyday or as big as buying a new property or starting a new business.

Ask for help – don’t be too proud to ask for help, it can be the biggest step to a better mental state.

Eat and drink well – good nutrients and fluid intake (water) are a fuel to keep us healthy and well.

Prioritise sleep – it is the prime time when our bodies rejuvenate – including our skin!

Personal development – this is my ultimate favourite way of feeding my brain with positivity daily! It is a fantastic way of empowering people to be able to handle their emotions and the way that they deal with people and situations. Personal development also enables mental and emotional growth; it improves our emotional intelligence, self worth and can even change our lives.
