As a child I wanted to marry Patrick Swayze and work for the beautiful holiday resort, ‘Kellerman’s’. I wasn’t far off and worked for Haven Holidays instead!
I then had a complete switch of career and was introduced to the world of health and social care, which I absolutely loved. I knew at some point I would climb the ladder from being a health care assistant in a nursing home – I’ve been a qualified nurse since 2012 and an Independent Nurse Prescriber since 2016.
My journey was slightly more varied than simply going from health care assistant to nurse. I developed a skin passion in my early 20’s when I was a health care assistant and had a face full of acne. Over the years my acne treatment incorporated a whole host of antibiotics and drugs.
It was at this time that I became curious about topical skin care and what I was actually putting on my skin. I began researching chemicals and the effects they had on your skin but also on your overall health, and it was at this point that I made the conscious decision to use ‘cleaner’ products with fewer chemicals.
From here my skin passion led me into beauty therapy, I enjoyed treating people when I was a beauty therapist but wasn’t fulfilled and also disliked the sales part of the job, mostly because I didn’t believe in the products.
This pushed me into the next phase of my journey, going back into health care but this time I was trained to be a nurse.
The more I learnt during my three year nursing degree the more in love I fell with nursing. My nursing career began in Intensive Care before moving into the wonderful world of aesthetic medicine.
