Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment in Buckinghamshire

It is expected that a slight discomfort will occur at the time of injection and there is the possibility that a slight stinging sensation, swelling and/or bruising may occur after the injection; these should resolve within a couple of hours and up to a few days. The eye area swelling can take between 4-7 days for the swelling to subside completely.

CONTRA INDICATIONS

• Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Platelet abnormalities.
• Low platelet count.
• Infection of the area to be treated.
• Febrile illness.
• Chronic liver disease.
• Anti-coagulation therapy (heparin/warfarin).

TREATMENT CAUTIONS

• Blood thinning medication including aspirin.
• Over the counter medication which may thin the blood including Vitamin E, St. John’s Wart, Omega-3, Cod liver oil, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba.

• Oral products to stimulate fibroblasts/collagen are advised to be taken from 4-7 days before the day of treatment: vitamin C 1000mg daily and vitamin D (as recommended by brand).
• Topical vitamin A & and vitamin C serum to begin activation of fibroblasts/collagen are advised to be used from 4-7 days before the day of treatment and to be continued indefinitely after treatment.
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
• Avoid taking over the counter medication that may thin the blood including Vitamin E, St. John’s Wart, Omega-3, Cod liver oil, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba for 7 days prior to treatment.
• If you are prescribed blood-thinning medication by your doctor such as an anticoagulant or aspirin for medical purposes, please check with your doctor before stopping this medication.
